Cookie & Local Storage Policy
How FreePDF uses cookies, local browser storage, service-worker caches and similar technologies.
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains how FreePDF.co.za uses cookies, browser storage, service-worker caches and similar technologies.
It should be read together with our Privacy Policy / POPIA Notice.
2. Cookies and browser storage are not the same as your PDF files
Cookies and browser storage are used for ordinary website functions such as preferences, security, consent choices, progressive-web-app functionality and locally saved settings.
3. Technologies FreePDF may use
| Technology | Typical purpose | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Essential cookies | Security, session integrity, consent state or other necessary website functions. | Your browser and/or website infrastructure. |
| Local storage | Preferences, locally saved business profiles, tool settings or review-prompt frequency controls. | Your device/browser. |
| Service-worker cache | Progressive-web-app functionality, faster loading and limited offline availability of application assets. | Your device/browser. |
| Analytics identifiers | Understanding website traffic, performance and usage where analytics is enabled. | Your browser and the relevant analytics provider, where applicable. |
4. Locally saved invoice and payslip information
If you choose to save reusable business or profile details for an invoice or payslip tool, those details may be stored in your browser’s local storage on that device. They are intended to remain local to your browser rather than being saved to a FreePDF account.
Anyone with access to the same browser profile and device may potentially access locally stored information. Avoid saving sensitive profile information on a shared or public device.
5. Analytics and advertising technologies
FreePDF may use analytics technologies to understand website performance and improve the service. If we use non-essential analytics, advertising or similar tracking technologies that require a choice from you, we will provide appropriate consent controls and identify the relevant technologies in those controls or in an updated version of this policy.
We do not use a cookie banner merely as decoration: where a non-essential technology is presented as optional, declining it should not prevent you from using the core document tools.
6. How to manage browser storage
You can usually delete cookies, local storage and cached website data from your browser settings. Clearing FreePDF site data may remove saved preferences, locally saved profiles and installed/offline application data.
Browser controls differ between Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and mobile browsers. Refer to your browser’s privacy or site-data settings for the controls available on your device.
7. Updates
We may update this policy when we add or remove cookies, analytics, advertising, storage features or third-party services.
